HELM AG has been recording strong growth in monopropylene glycol (MPG) sales over the last seven years and is now well-established as a major supplier of MPG in Europe. The HELM product range includes both technical grade propylene glycol and food grade propylene glycol (USP/EP). In addition to a high level of flexibility in terms of quantities and short lead times, HELM also offers its contractual partners comprehensive market information and constant product availability. The custom-made supply models for industrial users of MPG are a special feature of the service provided by HELM AG.
Since April 2013 HELM is also able to regularly supply its customers with bio MPG for technical applications.
If required HELM could also provide the necessary documentation proof of a sustainable production from renewable sources.
Examples of applications
Monopropylene glycol (MPG) is used in various industries because of its physical properties, its low freezing point and good digestibility. The main fields of application for technical grade MPG are polyester resins used in the automotive industry and in shipbuilding, for example. Other technical fields of application are laundry detergents and antifreeze products, where MPG is used due to the fact that it is non-toxic. For food grade MPG, the main field of application is in cosmetics, where it is used as a moisture regulator. Food grade MPG accounts for approx. 43% of total consumption worldwide.
